Eight Point Star - April's Block of the Month

Are you ready to start our block of the month quilt?  We are only a few days behind but I have no doubts you will have this block done by May 13.  The video tutorial took a lot longer than I ever imagined.  Not filming it, I had that done a long time ago but the editing and uploading that should have taken about a day to do ended up taking four days.  It's been a nightmare!  The good thing is the eight point star is easy to do and breath taking.  I am using Ombre Scrolls by Quilting Treasures for this block.

Even though everything that could go wrong with the video did go wrong the 8 point star block is very simple.  You'll need to make sure you cut accurately and sew accurately.  That's the biggest trick to this block.  Also be sure not to stretch your bias edges.

Supplies & Cutting

1/4 yard each of two coordinating fabrics Forest Ombre Scrolls and Midnight Ombre Scrolls Cut 1 4 inch wide strip from each
1/3 yard of setting fabric Ecru Ombre Scrolls Cut (1) 8 1/8 inch Square, cut this square into quarter squares, (4) 5 1/2 inch squares
Spray Starch

Sewing Instructions

I know the video is long but I didn't want anyone not able to sew the block.  A beginner to an advanced quilter should have no problems sewing this 8 point star together.  You can fast forward through the parts you don't need to watch.

Not too difficult is it? If you have any questions you are always welcome to email or get a hold me on social media.  Too often when you comment there's no way for me to reply to you unless you keep checking the post to see when I responded.  If you would like to get fabric requirements, bonus blocks, and more information about the Block of The Month subscribe to the mailing list below.
