Modern Selvage Quilting - Quilt Book Review

I'm so excited about today's post, I'm the next to the last stop on the blog tour for Modern Selvage Quilting book tour.  You all know that I hate to throw any fabric away, just look at all my string blocks, so learning how to use the selvage edges is something I've always wanted to do.  When C & T publishing contacted me to see if I was interested in reviewing Riel Nason's new book Modern Selvage Quilting I jumped at the chance.  My mind has been running full force since getting my copy of Modern Selvage Quilting.  I'm sure all of you will want to enjoy this same experience with your own copy of this marvelous book.

If you haven't sewn with selvages before, this book is for you.  I was totally clueless how to sew with selvages even though I've seen a bunch of projects done with it.  Riel starts off with tons of great info on how to cut your fabric so you save your selvage correctly.  Then it is on to how to sew the selvages and how to pick the fabric.  I find that section to be worth the price of the book alone.  If I make nothing from the book,  I have all the information to make my own designs using selvages.

Riel is a quilt blogger herself so she's fully aware of the fact that we like our small projects to try out techniques.  She has pin cushions, table runners, pillows, valances, and ornaments.  All those small things we love to start with are in the book.  I'm thinking the valances might start showing up in my home just because they are so cute!

She has quilts from wall hanging size up to 82x82 which would be a bedspread for a queen or have some hang over on a full size bed.  Some of them are your traditional quilt blocks like stars and string blocks.  There's really not anything too far out of the box that you wouldn't be comfortable trying.

Now I mentioned this was a blog book tour.  With the book tour we are giving away a copy of the Modern Selvage Quilt book.  Each one of us!!!  That means you can enter on any or all of our pages.  If you are US based you will get a hard copy of the book, if you are outside of the US you will get a ebook.
