Fiber Tuesday 122

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week? I can't believe that we are in August already!  This summer has flown by and I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I need to get my fall sewing done and start on Christmas projects.  The weather this week is really cool for August here in Kansas so that is helping get my mind around that.  Have you started planning for the holidays yet?

In order to help get myself ready for fall I shared what I think will be trending Fall 2017 in quilting.  Quilting isn't necessarily a trendy thing but I do think it's important to know what colors are popular in home decor and what fun tools are coming out.

Paul showed us how to clean up a crinkle finished sewing machine.  The "slang" name for these finishes is Godzilla finish.  I don't know why and have never found anyone who does know why.  It makes me giggle.  If you have one and haven't given it a good cleaning you might be surprised what is under all that gunk.

This week's demo video was a paper piecing block.  I turned those little blocks into a couple of coasters.  If you haven't done paper piecing before this is a super simple way to get started in paper piecing.

Harry Potter Lego Inspired Quilt
Soma shared this amazing fandom quilt!  It was inspired by Lego Harry Potter and the post has links to the blocks she used to make it.  I love when quilters bring in other parts of their lives into their quilts.  We aren't one dimension people, some of us cook, some of us are gamers, some of us are readers, and so much more.  Bring your worlds together through your love of quilting like Soma did.

Now on to the link up.  Remember to check out each other and spread the love.  It is a party after all!
