Dresden Plate Quilt Block August Block of the Month

I can't even remember how many Dresden Plate quilts my mother made.  So this month I am paying tribute to my mom with the block of the month.  I didn't do it the same way she did, though.  Mom's quilt blocks always had points on them.  My Dresden Plate doesn't have points for a couple of reasons.  One of the reasons I don't have points is I don't care for the points I think they look dated.  If you like your block with points make your block with points.  I also am lazy, my ruler doesn't have the point built in and I didn't want to sew the points.  So let's make our Dresden Plate block.

I really enjoyed making this block even with the oops on the circle.  It's so easy to make I made this one on a treadle sewing machine.

Supplies

24 5" squares You could use leftover charm squares, scraps, whatever makes you happy.  Each square gives you two blades. Cut 48 blades
17.5" square for your background.  You want a neutral color for this.  Mine is off white with little musical notes all over it.
Dresden Plate Ruler - The nice thing about the one I use, like the one I linked, is I can use it for other things like tumblers.  I love dual duty items.

That's all you need!!  I really think this is the shortest supply list we have ever needed.  That's really how easy this block is to make.  This is raw edge applique so we won't be doing any methods of rolling that edge under.  So let's watch me treadle this block.
