Quilt-Pro software is great no matter where you fall on the quilter spectrum. You can design blocks all on your own or use blocks in your library or even purchase some blocks to add to your library. You can also import actual fabric so there's no more guessing if the fabric will work or not.
In the video below I highlight some of the other functions of the software but focus mostly on making the quilt block, putting it into a quilt, and printing the templates for it. I also show a few things not to do, like not clicking things in the right order or not knowing left from right. I shouldn't attempt to teach things after working all day. I knew I could edit that part out but figured you guys would learn more from my goofs than anything else.
It really is that easy to use Quilt-Pro. Quilt-Pro is $150 and add-on block libraries run between $10 and $25. I really do believe that it's worth the investment. It is so versatile. There are over 60 tutorials on their website that include how to make curved flying geese and English paper piecing. You can even put your quilting as a layer over the quilt to see what it will look like. Really though the ability to print our own templates and figure yardage is worth the price of admission for me.

A few helpful hints: An easier way to rotate your blocks is to use the rotate tool on the floating tool bar. I also use the undo tool on the upper toolbar, rather than go to "edit". Instead of a floating toolbar, mine is docked on the side so it is out of the way.
