Making your own pillow forms couldn't be easier. It's two squares of fabric and some poly-fil stuffing. That's it! It would be a great project for a beginner sewist. You can make them any size you want too. Pillows are such a great way to dress up a sofa or a bed. They are also the perfect way to use up your orphan quilt blocks you have laying around. Supplies Needed For Do It Yourself Pillow Forms
- 2 squares cut the size you want your finished pillow form to be plus 1/2" i.e. 12" pillow form needs two square 12 1/2"
- Poly-Fil Stuffing
- Pins
Making The Do It Yourself Pillow Forms
- Place squares right sides together.
- On one side pin to give yourself a starting and stopping point for sewing to leave an opening to turn your pillow form. I like to leave about a 3" opening so I'll find the middle of the squares put a pin about 1 1/2 inches from the middle on the left side and another the same distance from the middle on the right side.
- Sew from one pin around to the other pin.
- Turn right side out and press the seam allowance for the opening under.
- Stuff with Poly-Fil to desired fullness
- Sew the opening shut, the thread and seam can show since it will be covered.
You just made yourself a pillow form!! Seriously it is that simple! Want to watch me make one?
