2021 Seaside Adventure Quilt Row Along

I am both excited and sad to host the Seaside Adventure Quilt Row Along.  I'm sad because the originator of the annual row along, Marian from Seams to Be Sew passed away.  I'm excited because this is a new adventure in my quilting world and you get to go along on that adventure with me.  I'm sure some of you are familiar with the row-by-row quilt hops that go on in the summers.  This is similar but I want to take a little bit to explain how this row along will work so you are ready to rock and roll in September.

All About 2021 Seaside Adventure Quilt Row Along

I am sure you have a lot of questions about the Seaside Adventure Quilt Row Along.  I want to answer as many of those questions as possible in this post.  Most importantly though, I want you to join us in the fun.  It doesn't matter your quilting skill level you will find something you can make.

What Is A Row Along?

Our row along will be a blog hop that takes place over a few months.  It will kick off right here at The Quilting Room on September 7, 2021.  We currently have 24 designers signed up for the row along.  You'll want to sign up for the row along newsletter below so you don't miss any of the rows.

Each week a group of designers will release their row.  Some rows will be single blocks either 12x12 or 30x30, perfect for center medallions or corner blocks.  The rows will be 12x30, 18x12, or 9x18.  You will need to go to the designer's website for instructions on how to download the pattern.  You will want to go get the pattern the week it is released because after that week the designers will start charging for the rows.

Why Do I Want To Make The Rows?

There are many reasons you would want to join us in the Seaside Adventure Quilt Row Along!  You'll be introduced to 23 other quilt designers.  Many of them are good friends of mine.  Don't you want to meet some of my friends?  All of the designers joining us on the adventure are small independent designers. I know you like to support independent designers and this is a great way to do that.  You'll get to check out their blogs, their social media, and their other patterns.  I bet you find a new designer to follow!

You will also learn some new techniques!  Grandma Green always said that you needed the learn something new each day and I wholeheartedly agree with her!  It seems like every designer has his or her own method for creating a block.  I love to see how others do something because it might just be better than the way I currently do it.

Many of the rows can be turned into stand-alone projects.  Last year I made a window box row and while it works great with the other rows that were released last year it also makes a great springtime table runner.

What Is In It For The Designers?

We get to share with our audiences, other designers and that's huge!  We get to help each other meet new quilty friends.  I am a firm believer in "rising tides raise all boats".  When we help each other succeed we all succeed!  This is a fun way to do that not just for us designers but for you as well.

Those of us in the states and Canada also get to work with our wonderful sponsor, Northcott Fabrics. Northcott has generously provided us with fabric for the row along.

Who Is Participating?

If you want to do some snooping and check out the designers who are participating I'm 100% positive that none of us would mind.  There is one designer that doesn't have a website or social media.  I will be hosting that pattern here. You can also follow the hashtag #seasideadventureqra on Instagram to see some previews.

If you are excited be sure to let your quilting friends know all about it!

Join us for the 2021 seaside adventure quilt row along and celebrate our oceans.

  1. Very excited to be one of the group. I would say I can’t wait but that would mean summer was nearing it’s end and I would never wish that.

  2. Hi Mel! I cannot say how happy I am to see the Row-Along is back. While it cannot be the same without dear Marian, I know deep in my heart that she would be thrilled to know it continues. Thank you so much for tackling this huge undertaking and thank you to Northcott for continuing to sponsor all the talented designers. I look forward to September for a variety of reasons (NOT including school starting), and this will be another to add to the list. {{Hugs)) a bunch for you. ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Lovelovelove the QAL but was disappointed today to find out that the Scuba pattern was only FREE on Monday; instead of the whole week. Can someone please address this with the pattern creator? I think she is misinformed.
