Picnic Basket Quilt Block

It's quilt block mania time again!! August's theme was picnic/bbq. I'm just in love with this picnic basket quilt block. It's got a mini Ohio star quilt block and the colors we used this month just make my heart happy. It's a really quick block to make so you'll have plenty of time to actually go on a picnic or attend a BBQ.

When I started planning this block, I thought of Yogi Bear saying "Pic-a-nic" basket. I think I might have been a tad tired and the goofiness had set in. Sometimes goofiness is just what the soul needs and I have to say it made me smile every time my brain said pic-a-nic basket.

Like I said earlier, I love the colors this month. Carolina did a great job picking the color palette for August's quilt block mania. Here's the color palette:

Design Seeds

I used Northcott Canvas line this month. The colors in that line just worked perfectly for this month's color theme. We've got a lot of other great quilt blocks this month so be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post to find all the other blocks!

It doesn't take a lot of fabric to make this block and you are certainly welcome to do this as a scrap buster. Six blocks would make a cute table runner for an outdoor table.

Supplies Needed To Make Picnic Basket Quilt Block

The Pattern - You can purchase it from my shop or from Etsy.

Northcott Canvas fabrics in Minty, Melon, Turquoise, and Amethyst. A fat quarter would be perfect for the block but a yard of each would give you enough to make a table runner.
